There are several different symptoms and causes of bladder problems in men. Most men will recognize a problem with their bladder early on since men are so in tune with that area. Bladder problems in men will cause problems such as frequent urination. Urinating all the time has a big impact on your life. Not being able to sit through a meeting or getting through a plane trip can be very stressful. This is especially true when besides frequent urination is occurring, but also your urgency is to go is so strong you feel you'll go in your pants if you don't get to a toilet quickly. Other symptoms of bladder problems include a burning sensation when urinating (dysuria), a low-grade fever, cloudy urine that smells bad, and blood in the urine (hematuria).

There are some serious causes of bladder problems such as an enlarged prostate, kidney stones, and a narrowing of the urethra which itself can have several causes. An enlarged prostate occurs when the prostate gland which is wrapped around the urethra, and usually the size of a walnut, expands. This squeezes the urethra making it narrow. This causes many issues regarding urination since your normal amount of urine no longer is going through as big an opening to get out anymore.

Kidney stones which are known to be extremely painful can pass through the body without medical intervention. The pain however causes many people to seek medical attention. Kidney stones may be caused by certain foods, urinary tract infections, and kidney disorders.

When a man does have discomfort from bladder problems the best thing to do is see a doctor. Do not ignore the symptoms. A doctor can determine the cause and even order more appropriate test to rule out major possible threats such as prostate cancer.
